Baseball
Softball refers to a different version of baseball. The ball is smaller and the field is smaller. It lasts seven innings. Underarm pitching is required. There are two main types. Chicago was the home of the first game in softball in 1887. It was initially known as indoor baseball. The Olympic Games took the game out in 1996. It was then reintroduced as indoor baseball in 2008. The game is still played in dozens countries, including Canada.
Although the rules are similar, baseball pitches are much harder and take longer to throw. Softball pitches can travel faster and farther than baseball pitches. Softball pitches are delivered underhand while baseball pitches are delivered overhand or sidearm.
Pitcher
The position of pitcher in softball can be very important. Pitchers are responsible to catch and throw the ball. Pitchers also pitch and hit batters. A pitcher can also manage the team. These are some characteristics you should look for in a pitcher of softball. These characteristics can indicate whether a pitcher is at risk of injury. These traits can be determined by their pitch type, innings pitched, and subjective history of injuries.

Release point: The release point should be at the hip and near to the body. Some pitchers release too far away or too far in front of the hip, and this causes wild pitches. Wrist snap: The wrist snappe is one of the most difficult skills that a softball pitcher needs to master. The wrist snap is necessary because the forearm is blocked, so the pitcher has to snap it.
Infielders
Infielders play a crucial role in any baseball or softball team. While every player on the team plays in the field, some have special skills, such as quick reflexes or strong arm strength. These players need to communicate with the other players.
It is difficult to be a right fielder. It requires accurate prediction of the trajectory a baseball will take when hit. They also need to protect second and first base runners from pitches. Six positions are filled by defensive players, including the pitcher or catcher.
Batting average
The batting average is a key stat in softball that determines the probability of a batter reaching base. This is calculated by subtracting the number hit by the number at-bats. A hit is not always an at-bat. A hit is when a batter scores on their own.
There are three ways you can measure a player’s average batting. First, the H/AB. This measures the percentage of hits that are against the pitcher. The second, the on-base percent, shows how many times players have reached base. The third, or the CS%, is the number runners caught stealing.

Rules
The Rules of Softball are a set of rules and guidelines that govern the game. To move from one base to the next in softball, runners must step on each base. To make it easier for runners to move from one base to the next, they cannot skip bases. The umpire must call them safe before they can proceed to the next base. The umpire must call a player safe before they can move to the next base.
Softball is similar as baseball but the pitching style is different. Traditional softball pitchers used a windmill motion when throwing the ball. The arm is extended over the body, and the ball is pitched at about hip level. A pitch must pass through the zone when a batter swings.
