A retd is not the exact same thing as a regular injury. Often, the player is able to return to the field. This is what happened with Pollard, Ashwin, Mushfiqur or Pollard and Imam-ul-Haq. In such situations, the batter can continue his innings later on in the game.
Ashwin
Many IPL fans were stunned when Ashwin was allowed to leave in the 19th match of the IPL. He had just been involved in a 68-run stand with Shimron Hetmyer. Ashwin was badly hurt and the on-air commentators had no choice but to confirm this. He retired after being hit by a delivery from Avesh Khan.
Ashwin's decision is being questioned. Although many felt that Ashwin should have left the match due to personal reasons, there have been instances when some players abuse the batting substitution rules. The team has now decided to field Riyan Parag in Ashwin's place, and the decision to replace Ashwin has become a point of contention.
Mushfiqur
Mushfiqur Rahim has decided to end his playing career in T20I cricket. He took this decision after he failed in the Asia Cup 2022. His childhood coach stated that he was trying hard in the nets to adapt to T20 cricket, and was also testing his character for success in T20 cricket.
Mushfiqur made his debut for Bangladesh in 2005 and is their most experienced player, with over a thousand runs scored in Test cricket. His first role was as a lower order batter. However, he quickly became a wicketkeeper. To reach the thousand-run mark, it took him 20 Tests. He was named captain in 2011 and has been captain for 3515 Tests. He has also been a part of 6697 ODI runs as well as 1495 T20I runs.
Pollard
The West Indies are in need of a win after their opening two games of the ODI series. After a batting collapse in the first innings, the visitors are in a position to win with just two games to play. The defending champions fell in the first innings and are now in a position to win with just two games remaining. The first innings was a complete mess for both sides, and neither batsman looked in the right place at the crucial time.
Despite the confusion and frustration that followed Pollard’s exit on the field, the righthander was able back into the match and won the game. Pollard was unable take to the field when West Indies won the last over. This has prompted speculation about Pollard’s health. Even though he didn’t appear in any pain, it seemed like he was still suffering from an injury.
Imam-ul-Haq
Pakistan all-rounder Imam-ul-Haq was taken to hospital after sustaining a suspected elbow injury during their fourth ODI against England. Imam, despite being in excellent form lately, was a major casualty during the fourth ODI. As a precaution, the injured cricketer underwent x-rays.
Babar Azam was elected to replace Imam-ul-Haq, who had been injured in the 13th innings. To even the series, the Pakistani team aimed for 210 runs. Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, and Fakhar Zaman were brilliant in their knocks and Pakistan took the initiative to level the series.
Babul Supriyo
Army officer Babul Supriyo, retired, was injured in a road accident on his motorcycle near Delhi's Cantonment. He was heading to pick up his daughter from the airport when he was involved in the accident. His motorcycle lost control of its steering wheel and collided into the SUV's rear. He sustained injuries to his left elbow as well as his chest wall. Security personnel brought him to the AIIMS Trauma Centre. After arriving, he had been declared stable.
