It can be played under natural light conditions

Test cricket is a game that is played outdoors, in natural light conditions. The red ball used in this game is hard to spot in gloomy weather, and the umpires have the power to halt play to ensure the safety of the players. A recent example is the World Test Championship final, in which the play was halted for lack of light on the outfield.

Before the introduction of artificial lighting, Test cricket was played exclusively in natural light conditions. However, the light limitations meant that the players couldn't play for longer than a day. The International Cricket Council, (ICC), allows day-night Test matches utilizing pink balls. In 2015, Australia and New Zealand hosted the first such game.
