The Boxing Day's first Test against Australia at SCG was intense. England needed 45 runs from the last ten overs in order to win. England's fightback was led by Heather Knight, who top-scored with 55 off 68 balls. She was joined by Nat Sciver, who made 58 from 62 balls, and Sophia Dunkley, who smashed 45 from 32 balls. Annabel Suetherland also took three wickets, scoring 69 runs over thirteen innings.
Tim Paine's injuries
Tim Paine's injury during the Australia test against Pakistan will not preclude him from playing the next Ashes Test series, but he is unlikely to be fit in time to start. The injured batsman is expected to return to full training in October and physical activity by the end of the month. The Gabba will host the Ashes Test against England on December 8. With three months to go until the first Test against England, Paine's chances of playing in the series opener will depend on his recovery.
On Friday, Tim Paine was removed as captain of Australia's Test squad. The Australian test captain was named in a News Corp report for sending explicit messages to a female co-worker. Cricket Australia is now investigating Paine’s behaviour. Paine gave a written statement to Paine, and did not respond.

Ashes series versus England
The home side won the 2021-22 Ashes series, which was between Australia and England. The Australians dominated the First Test. Dave Warner and Marnus Labuschagne made good first innings scores for Australia. Travis Head's 152 was crucial in the match. England were forced to play the second innings. Pat Cummins had to be rested on the match eve, but Jhye Richardson took five wickets on the final day.
In the 1876-77 season, Australia and England hosted their first Ashes series. Australia's media reacted to Warner's mention that the 'Ashes" had been mentioned. Later, the series became the Ashes. England's rivalry was growing with Australia in the 1930s. In the following years, teams from India and New Zealand became Test cricket powershouses.
Boxing Day Test
The Ashes Series between Australia (England) and Australia hosted the first Boxing Day Trial in Australia. It took places in Melbourne, between December 22 and December 27. Boxing Day was the fourth and final day of the match. Australia won by 28 runs. After that, there were no Boxing Day tests until 1967. On December 23, the third Ashes match took place in Adelaide.
The Boxing Day Test holds great cultural significance and draws huge crowds. It is considered to be one of the most watched games in Australia. Some consider it to be a tradition to attend the match and take part in activities associated with it. People have their own traditions like the beer cup snakes or waves and stacking of beer glasses.

Charles Bannerman's Australian debut
Charles Bannerman, Australia's first-ever cricketer, made his debut in 1878. It is a moment that will be remembered in Australian cricket history. He was an excellent right-handed attacking batsman and a skilled fielder. He was tall with a strong forward play. He was an expert at both the off-and-leg strokes but could not cut the ball well. He was a good fielder, but he wasn't great at bowling.
His 165 runs were the highest run total by an Australian in his Test debut. This record is not held by any other cricketer. Bannerman was the first Australian batsman to score a century in Test cricket. He scored 165 runs in one innings, becoming the first Australian batsman to reach 100 runs. Unfortunately, his day was marred by tragedy when he was hurt on the second day in the first ever Test match at Melbourne.
